Asserting My Independence!

I am a big boy now. Completed 18 months!!! And boy that is big enough!

I have my own things to do and my own ways to do them. I don’t like much handholding or interference when I do things. And I mean it literally…My mom or grandma usually takes me for walks in the evenings, I like finding my way around the road and footpath, navigating those small ups and downs. So it’s really annoying when they insist on holding my hand! Uff!!!

When we travel by the bus, I prefer sitting by my self and not in somebody else’s lap…come on guys I am grown up now, I need my own seat. Even when I go out with dad, I prefer sitting by myself in the backseat to enjoy the view.

I insist on eating my food by myself and drinking water from a proper glass and not some silly little mug. Although I create a huge mess after that, but I know mommy will clear it up for me…

I also decide what I want to eat. I know where mom keeps all the food, so I usually prefer opening the fridge by myself to pick my choice of fruit or snack. You know, it’s more convenient that way, rather than my parents continuously asking me if I am hungry.

My mom also lets me choose the clothes I wish to wear, till she gets fed of me picking the same t-shirt every second day. I think she finds it weird washing the same set of two clothes every second day and feels what the point of having a wardrobe then. But common on, you need to check my comfort as well!

I enjoy listening to music, quite soothing must say. But getting my parents to switch to my favourite music channel and songs is surely a challenge! They sure do seem to get fed up pretty soon listening to the same song…but again, its my favourite and I think they should understand…

There are many more things which I am unable to explain to them, but wait till I start talking…I’ll explain things effectively then. Till then I think they just need to understand that I am a big boy now.
