My New Found Independence

At 9 months I had discovered the joys of walking around. I would hold on to anything near by like a chair, a table or my stroller, pull myself up and start walking. It was an exuberating feeling I tell you!!

Now I have made a slightly better progress as I manage to run across the shortest distance with my hands pushing away the air in front of me, basically it means arms outstretched! And it is so much fun running into my parents open arms! I squeal with delight as I achieve my mission. I walk around the whole house, gliding across the walls, running towards the nearest furniture calling out to my amma (well, that’s what I call my mom for you novice folks) or papa papa papa…..depending on whose around.

I also go for walks in the garden with my mother, so we can watch the birds and the dogs. I often call out to the birds, screaming “baads” but they just go swoosh & swoosh around me! I have never been able to actually catch them. Even if I offer them chapattis, they pick it and fly off. Dogs are better in that matter, atleast they sit around& stare back! My mom tells me all about the sounds these animals make. I love it when she sings to me and tells me about “Old Mc Donald’s Farm”. Lucky fellow had such a variety of animals on his farm, all of whom would make different sounds….I love to hear the monkey go “hoop hoop hoop”!

I will be turning a year old in the next couple of days and I have fairly managed to walk well without support. I have got these little floaters that I wear every time I have to go out… with a little cat on the top and everytime I walk they squeak. It’s kind of funny walking around in them. But mom is very strict about it else I end up with really messy feet.

Since I can walk now, I can guide my parents to those things that I want. For example, if I want to go out I just pull and tug on to their dress and hands and take them to the door. Once it’s open I just need to guide them to the lift so that they can call for it and take me to the garden.

In the garden it’s more fun. I can take my mom to the slides or the nearby cycle parked to play. I can also just walk around watching the birds or play hide and seek around the parked cars. All and all its fun just being out of the house! I wish I could stay in the garden forever. I don’t miss any opportunity to come down in the garden…I am telling you, learning to walk has been the best thing to happen, now I just need to learn how to open that door in my house, so I can walk down to the garden myself!
